Each experience was a novel attempt in expressing my experience. I had no skill with digital art prior to starting with these stories. I downloaded Instagram and just started creating with visuals, some of my music, and music that mattered to me in the moment.
The story overall tries to get at how unprepared I was for life, and how I piece together whatever I can in the moment that things are happening to gain some experiential understanding of what's happening. The portfolio demonstrates four layers of experience: as a human being who didn't learn well enough how to take care of himself, physically, emotionally, mentally, or energetically; as an underdeveloped man who didn't know how to stand up for himself; as a community member who was always too fearful to bring himself to the spaces that he longed to go to; and as a former lover, who sought to control someone else to placate my own anxieties and fears.

The pilot imagines optional cross-training, mentorship, and wellness supports so hosts can move through AV, collections, development, and other departments without pretending that growth has to happen outside the museum.
What matters most is the shape of the pathway: a clearer wage ladder, a better learning arc, and a model of institutional care that actually feels close to daily reality.
The work is already there. The question is how to turn it into a path.

The model is simple: shadow one department, learn the rhythm, then contribute under supervision. That makes the path into museum work more legible for Newark youth and young adults while still respecting the institution's actual workload.
The point is to bridge institutional need and youth development without pretending the museum can absorb undefined labor or that the program should be a vague, unstructured placement.
One piano in the right corner can change the whole room.

The pilot is intentionally modest: weekly pop-up moments, simple signage, QR-coded schedules, and room to test whether visitors, students, and local players respond to the idea.
If the placement works, the series can expand across galleries, the courtyard, and the cafe without losing the quiet scale that makes the first version feel possible.
